In response to the global challenge of climate change, the 4th Offshore Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (OCCUS) Forum was held in Hangzhou from October 12 to 15, 2024. The forum was co-sponsored by the State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Science (Xiamen University) and the Pacific Society of China. It was hosted by the Second Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources. Over 200 representatives from domestic and foreign scientific research institutions, businesses, and academia gathered at the Forum to discuss OCCUS' development trajectory comprehensively. They offered multifaceted suggestions for promoting China's marine carbon sink potential and for the comprehensive and coordinated development of land and sea resources, ecology, industry, and space.
On November 5, 2024, the Summary Report for the 4th Offshore Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage Forum was officially released. With the core theme of "Coupling synergy between the multi-layer carbon cycle and OCCUS", the report comprehensively sorted out and recorded the relevant activities of the fourth OCCUS Forum, including the report content, discussions during the forum, and future development suggestions for various related directions.
