The Xiamen Symposium on Marine Environmental Sciences (XMAS) celebrated its sixth iteration from January 9st-12th, 2023 online and offline. Academician DAI Minhan was Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Committee and Prof. CAO Zhimian and Prof. LI Feili was Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee. During the conference, about 12,000 person-time from 35 countries and regions including the United States, Canada, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and other countries and regions interacted with one another.
Under the theme “Multidisciplinary and Solution Sciences for a Sustainable and Healthy Ocean,” the conference arranged 6 keynote speeches, 34 sessions and workshops, 221 oral presentations and 193 posters. Also, the Surface Ocean - Lower Atmosphere Study (SOLAS) workshop, Women in Science Salon, Meet the Editor and other public education activities were carried out.
The conference attracted 12 media outlets, including China Central Television (CCTV) and a 650,000+ audience.
