On November 11st, the Sub-forum on Marine Technology and Engineering of the 2022 Maritime Silk Road International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application was held in the Dewang Library at Xiamen University’s Xiang’an Campus.
The sub-forum, with Professor DAI Minhai as chair of scientific advisory committee and Prof. LIU Zhiyu as chair of the organizing committee, was held by the College of Ocean and Earth Sciences, Xiamen University, the Fujian Ocean Innovation Center (Fujian-OI), the State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Science (Xiamen University), the Fujian Institute for Sustainable Oceans (Xiamen University), and the Golden Union of Policy, Industry, Education, Research and Application of Marine Economy, Fujian Province. The Xiamen International Cooperation Center, Tencent Carbon Neutrality Laboratory Industrial Bank Co., LTD., Xiamen Branch, China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences (XUMC), and Coastal-SOS Programme were co-conveners.
Prof. CHAI Fei hosted the sub-conference.
In the opening ceremony, the assistant principal of Xiamen University, Prof. FANG Ying, extended congratulations towards the organization of the sub-forum on behalf of the Principal ZHANG Zongyi. He expressed the willingness of Xiamen University to deepen the cooperation among Belt and Road countries and regions in marine talents cultivation, scientific research and academic exchange.
Under the theme “Emerging Low-carbon Marine Industry,” the sub-forum had 9 invited presentations discussing “Blue Carbon: Methods and Techniques,” “Development of Low-Carbon Marine Industry” and “Policy and Management for Low-Carbon Marine Development,” attracting 165 participants from 12 countries online and offline.
Academician DAI Minhan made the closing address, praising the charm of science, potential of technological breakthroughs, prospects of modern integrated individualization and significance of policy management showing in this sub-forum.
