Job Description:
The COSEE China Coordination Office (Xiamen) seeks a webmaster and designer to redesignand maintain our webpage, design graphics and media for our outreach programs, and collaborate with other universities in the larger COSEE network both internationally and abroad.COSEE China is a relatively new initiative between 7 universities in China that is modeled after the Centers for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence (COSEE) network in the United States.Our goals are to:
1)Promote ocean literacy and awareness at the K-12, public, and university levels,
2)Foster relationships between ocean scientists and educators, both internationally and domestically, and
3)Bring marine science to the forefront of national development strategies and promote itsprotection.
The web master/designer will be responsible for redesigning the website, updating it regularly and liaising with the other 6 universities in the COSEEChina network to create a cohesive look for COSEE China, in addition to developing the Xiamen branch site. S/He will also be responsible for creating/designing posters and other graphics on a project by project basis for the initiative.This is a part time position (20 hours per week).
Key Responsibilities:
·Redesign the existing website and maintain it.
·Design posters, advertising materials, etc. for projects and programs as they come along.
·Work with the development coordinator and other staff to advertise our projects and develop multimedia materials
·Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Applicantmust have:
Experience with relevant web technologies including HTML/HTML5, CSS,ASP.NET, PHP, XML, JQuery/Javascript.
Experience with modern office software suites including Microsoft Office
Full comprehension and understanding of Chinese and English
The ability to work in large groups or with little direction
Great communication and organizational skills; able to meet deadlines and communicate issues well in advance
Possess a team player mentality and a passion for promoting environmental awareness and conservation
The willingness and flexibility to work some evenings and weekends
